研究概要

以下の共同研究報告書は、神戸研究学園都市大学交流センター推進協議会により助成を受けた研究（平成16年度、共同研究班名：現代若者のコミュニケーションに関する実態調査・分析とコミュニケーション能力の学習支援システム構築の試み、代表研究者：冨永英夫 兵庫県立大学教授）の概要である。字数の制限があるため、当該研究に基づく、神戸研究学園都市大学交流センター推進協議会共同発表会における口頭発表「コミュニケーション能力の学習支援システム構築の試み」（2005年10月1日）に焦点を当てることにする。

本研究では、現代のユビキタス・ネットワーク社会におけるコミュニケーションとは何かを考察した上で、今後ますます進展すると思われる、情報通信機器を活用したコミュニケーション教育の可能性を検討した。グローバル化により、世界がボーダレスになった、と言われて久しいが、そのような世界では、人・物・情報の移動が以前に比べて著しく迅速に、また、広範囲に行われるようになった。それに伴い、我々は、さまざまな人と出会ったり、見たこともない商品を目にしたり、さらには、洪水のように溢れる情報に対応したりすることになった。すなわち、異なる文化に接することを否応なく迫られるようになったわけである。

コミュニケーションとは、一言で言えば、人が異文化を体験することである。人が新しい世界を創造することである、と言ってもいい。違ったものの見方や考え方をする人が出会い、係わることによって、お互いの世界観を新しく構築することなのである。このことは、明らかに違った文化を持つものが出会った時に最もはっきりと認識される。いわゆる「外国人」と遭遇した時に、このことは強く意識されるのである。しかし、注意深い人であれば気づいていることであるが、身近にも異文化は存在する。親子間でなかなか意思の疎通がうまく いかないことはもちろんのこと、長年連れ添った夫婦でも、相手が意外なものの考え方をすることに驚愕させられることはよくあることである。つまり、極論すれば、この世に同じものの見方や考え方をする人は二人といないということで、人は生まれて死ぬまで異文化に接するために、すなわち、コミュニケーションをするために生きているようなものなのである。

コミュニケーションを教育の観点から考えた場合、夫婦間の問題を取り上げるのは、余りに複雑すぎるし、また、若者には、将来の希望を失わせる点でも相応しくないであろう。従って、外国語学習を兼ねて、習得を目指している言語を駆使して、明らかに違った文化を持つ人と意見交換することが最もわかりやすく効果的であろう。このような体験をするためには留学しなければならない時代もかつてあったが、幸いなことに現在では、コンピュータの性能の飛躍的な向上とインターネットの普及によって、海外まで出かけて行かなくても、居ながらにして、類似の体験をすることが可能になった。本研究では、神戸商科大学と和歌山大学の先行事例を取り上げ、インターネットテレビ会議システムが手軽な異文化体験を可能にしてくれる装置であることを示した。そして、このシステムは、留学の機会がない学生に類似体験を可能にしてくれるだけでなく、留学を目前にした学生にも、留学後、スムーズなスタートを切るために、前もってある程度の異文化の免疫をつけさせ、適度なカルチャーショックを防止してくれることを示唆した。
