高専・大学生の地球環境問題に関する意識調査と教育について

高専・大学生の地球環境問題に関する意識調査と教育について

研究概要

本研究では、これまでに様々な場面で展開されてきた環境教育について検討を加え、地域社会とくに地方自治体が運営する科学館等を調査し、今後発展が望まれる方向を探った。また、神戸研究学園都市に在学する高専生および大学生を対象にした、地球環境問題に対する意識調査をもとに、学校あるいは地方自治体がどのようにこれらの教育に関与し、問題意識を高めて行くことができるのかを提言し、地域社会のあり方を考えることにした。

地域レベルでの取り組みとして、地方自治体による直接的な教育への参加は不可欠である。そこでまず、科学館・博物館等を通して展開されている神戸市の取り組みと、京都市の取り組みを比較し、効果的な教育方法について意見を述べた。

次に、青年層の環境問題に対する行動を理解し、より実際的な環境教育について考えるため、意識調査の結果から得られたデータについて考察を行った。調査は2002年7月上旬に実施し、神戸市立高専および神戸市看護大他の学生　612名を対象とした。調査結果からみられる青年層の関心の程度と行動について、その特徴を列挙してまとめた。さらに、意識調査の結果について統計学的に分析を行ない、考察を加えた。各アンケート項目について比率差の検定を行い、有意差（５％）があったものを中心として検討を加えた。項目は、Ⅰ．高専生全体（１，４，５年生）と看護大生の比較、Ⅱ．高専高学年（４，５年生）と看護大生との差、Ⅲ．高専低学年（１年生）と高専高学年（４，５年生）の比較、である。カリキュラムや学習環境が同じでも学年（年齢）によって差があるかどうかを検討した。

分析の結果、環境問題に関する意識に関連がある変数としては、年齢（１６歳or１９・２０歳）と学校種（工学系高専or看護系大学）が考えられた。具体的には、年齢が低いことによって授業や社会経験による知識が少なく、自分自身がおこなう社会的行動が限定されることが意識調査に表れていた。また、校種によって、環境問題に対する知識や興味の程度が異なると考えられた。さらに、性別と生活スタイルも回答に差をもたらす推定要因として考えられる。すなわち、看護大生には下宿生が少なからず含まれており、又、ほとんどが女子学生であることから、高専生とは違って日常の生活に密着した意識・行動パターンになると考えられる。
