日本型社会におけるIT革命の可能性に関する研究

研究概要

対面型コミュニケーションを特徴としてきた日本型社会において、場所と時間の共有を必ずしも必要としない情報通信技術によるコミュニケーションが企業経営や自治体経営、さらにはコミュニティの運営にどのような影響を及ぼしうるかについて、内外の文献に基づいて論点を整理し、各論点について大学院生も含めた小グループの討議を通じて可能性を検討するという手法で２年間にわたる研究を行った。

研究内容と研究成果の概要を要約すると以下のようになる。

1990年代に入り、インターネットの成長・普及やグローバル化の波、さらには情報経済の勃興が、企業活動やマネジメントにおける情報システムの役割を変えてしまった。その結果、インターネットが新しいビジネス・モデルやビジネス・プロセス、そして知識の創造の新たな方法の基盤となりつつある。また、既存の企業は、インターネットを活用すれば、供給業者を組織化して製品の生産をマネジメントでき、顧客への配送を円滑に行うことが可能であると気づき始めた。実際のところ、企業は世界に散らばっている工場やオフィスや営業部隊とリンクしている業務をシームレスに管理するためにインターネットやイントラネットなどのネットワークを活用している。

このように情報技術が組織やマネジメントに深く関わることで、企業活動を激変させることが可能となった。その結果、情報技術はコミュニケーションの方法の変化などを通じて人間の行動特性すらも変えつつある。しかし、組織変革のためには情報技術さえ導入すれば良いというものではなく、その企業の組織やマネジメント方法に合致した情報技術を導入する必要がある。そこで、我々は組織やマネジメント、さらに経営学や情報技術の文献や事例を検証することで、日本型社会におけるIT革命の可能性に関して研究した。

今回の研究においては、Kenneth C. LaudonとJane P. Laudonによる”Essentials of Management Information Systems: Organization and Technology in the Networked Enterprise”などの書籍や論文を講読しながら課題の抽出と課題解決の方向性の検証を行った。その過程で、本研究活動自体が、論文や書籍をスキャナーで読み込み、デジタル処理を行ってデータベースに蓄積し、研究会参加者間でこれらのテキストを共有すると共に、テレビ会議システムを導入して遠隔地間で研究会議を行うなど、IT革命の可能性の実証実験となるものであった。

研究成果は現在、書籍として刊行するべくまとめているところであり、本年（H１５年）の冬には出版される予定である。
