研究概要

1. 概要

   インターネットは現在情報を閲覧したり，Webで情報を提供することが中心に利用されている。一方このネットワークを大きな制御系とみることにより，より広い活用が可能となる｡

   ここでは、インターネットを経由して遠隔地から制御できるIPカメラを用いて，各地の動画をインターネットを経由して実時間で配信することによって，情報伝達をスムーズにするシステムを提案し，実験によってその効果を確認した。

   Webサーバを内蔵したネットワークカメラは，LANやインターネットに接続するだけで，そのIPアドレスを指定して一般的なWebブラウザから最新の撮影映像を取得できる。ネットワークカメラを用いて各種監視システムを構築し，Webサイトでのライブ映像サービスを低コストで実現できる。

2. 研究の方法
   1. ネットワークカメラのメリット

      LANや構内ネットワークを経由して，会社内の玄関や駐車場，会議室，工場などにネットワークカメラを設置すると，会社内のどのパソコンからでも現場の映像を簡単に見ることができる。また，ネットワークカメラをインターネットに接続し，観光地の景色や店舗などの様子を中継するホームページを作れる。

   2. すべての機能がオール・イン・ワン

      ネットワークカメラはWebサーバなどの機能をすべて標準で装備している。画像はJPEGフォーマットに自動変換されるため，別途ソフトウェアを必要とせず，一般的なWebブラウザから閲覧できる。画像圧縮にはJPEGを採用しているため，画質と解像度を指定してファイルサイズを調整することで，ネットワークの負荷を軽減できる。

   3. 構内ネットワークでの映像配信

      図1に示すように，構内に設置したネットワーク内でネットワークカメラを使うと， 訪問者のチェックや工場ラインの監視といった用途に利用できる。構内ネットワークでは， イーサネットによる高速回線での利用が想定されるため， 1秒間に15フレームの動画を利用できる。ネットワークカメラは一度に 10個所の PC から動画を閲覧できるが，搭載されているセキュリティ機能を利用するとネットワークカメラの利用者を限定できるため，特定の担当者のみに映像の閲覧を許可できる。また，建設現場などのLANの設置が困難な場合は，電話回線用のメタル線で高速ネットワークを構築できるxDSLモデムを使用できる。

   4. インターネットを経由した遠隔映像配信

      ネットワークカメラにグローバルIPアドレスを与え，ルータなどを用いてインターネットに接続すると，インターネット経由で世界中の好きなところからアクセスできるようになる。これは店舗や駐車場，道路状況の監視に最適である。　たとえば，図2に示すように病院内の各病室にネットワークカメラを設置し，インターネット経由で映像を閲覧できるようにすると，各担当医は自宅などの病院外から患者の様子を確認でき，また緊急時には，ネットワークカメラからの映像を見ながら，現場の医師に適切な指示を与えることができる。

   5. 構内ネットワークでの映像配信

      ネットワークカメラは，レンズの方向を左右165°と上下に78°の角度までパン・チルトできるため，インターネットなどのネットワークを経由して離れた場所からリモート操作できる。これは幼稚園での保護者へのサービスや，老人ホームなどの介護施設，自宅のペットの様子やイベント会場でのライブ中継などに応用できるシステムである。

3. 実験結果

   上記（２）のいくつかの項目につき，インターネット上での配信システムを構築し，ネットワークカメラを設置して実時間配信の実験を行った。Webの閲覧は各地にある通常のPC，PDAを用いた移動体受信を行った。いずれも結果は非情に良好で，十分実用に耐えることを確認した。
