科目内容
日本民俗学は日本の伝統文化を対象として日本人の生活について解明しようとする学問である。古くから伝えられてきた多くの伝統が過疎化、高齢化の中で危機にさらされている現代にあって、日本民俗学が蓄積してきた伝統文化に関する膨大な伝承や知識、技術等が重要性を増している。現代という視座から、年中行事、口承伝承、信仰生活、社会伝承などの伝統文化の具体相を取りあげ、解説する。さらに現代社会で特徴的な「伝統の創造」という事象にも目を向け、メディアの中でイメージとして消費される「日本」との関係についても言及する。
