科目内容

英語学概論とは、英語を研究する学問としての英語学の各分野を大まかに見通すことで、 「英語とはどのような言語か」「英語学とはどういう学問か」 ということについての全体像 を作ることを目標とした、入門的な授業です。「英語学概論１」「英語学概論２」に分けて 隔年開講され、２年間受講することで内容が完結します。

2015年度開講の「英語学概論１」は、英語学の諸分野のうち音声学、音韻論、形態論、 統語論について扱います。二人の教員が交替で担当し、 三間が最初の三つの分野について、 那須が統語論について講義します。音声学と音韻論はともに言語音に関する学問で、前者 は物理的な面、後者は心理的な面を扱います。 形態論は単語の構造に関する学問で、この 授業では主に音韻論との関係について考察します。統語論とは、文構造の特徴について分 析する分野です。 この授業では、文が持っている主要な性質について解説します。

（なお、2016年度開講（予定）の「英語学概論２」は、言葉の意味という観点から英語 の特徴を考える意味論、 実際のコミュニケーションの現場における言葉の働きという観点から英語の特徴を明らかにする語用論を中心とした内容になります。）

毎回の出席状況と、各担当教員の課す課題（中間・期末試験）によります。

履修にあたって

第１回から授業を行うので、必ず出席すること。
中間試験と期末試験の２度の試験を必ず受けること。
