科目内容

英語学概論とは、英語を研究する学問としての英語学の各分野を大まかに見通すことで、「英語とはどのような言語か」「英語学とはどういう学問か」ということについての全体像を作ることを目標とした、入門的な授業です。

2014 年度開講の「英語学概論2」は、英語学の諸分野のうち、言葉の意味という観点から英語の特徴を考える意味論、実際のコミュニケーションの現場における言葉の働きという観点から英語の特徴を明らかにする語用論を中心とした内容になります。

4	意味論（3）：日常言語の中の比喩
5	意味論（4）：英語の法助動詞
6	意味論（5）：日本語の「ている」と英語の進行形・完了形
7	意味論（6）：認知意味論は何を目指す学問か。
8	中間試験
9	語用論（7）：婉曲表現のふたつのタイプ
10	語用論（8）：笑いの婉曲法
11	語用論（9）：丁寧さの原理と婉曲のストラテジー
12	談話分析（10）：ハリウッド映画の掟
13	談話分析（11）：映画『アバター』における対立の構造
14	談話分析（12）：観客を説得するために（『アバター』と『ダンス・ウィズ・ウルブズ』）
15	期末試験

評価方法

毎回の出席状況と、各担当教員の課す課題（中間・期末試験またはレポート）によります。

教科書

配布資料を使いますので、教科書は指定しません。

参考図書

授業中に紹介します。

履修にあたって

入門のための授業ですので、英語学・言語学についての専門的な知識はいりません。ただ、基本的な英語力と、「英語はどういう言語なのかを知りたい」「言語とは何か考えてみたい」という強い好奇心を持つ人をお待ちしています。

また、途中で休むと次回の話を理解するのが難しくなるところがありますので、できるだけ欠席することなく毎回出席してください。
